The Sunflower Lanyard Program
The Sunflower Lanyard Program
The Sunflower Lanyard Program is a globally-recognized customer service program that helps travelers subtly inform airport staff that they have an invisible or less visible disability and may need extra assistance.
People wearing lanyards may have disabilities such as but not limited to:
- Anxiety disorders
- Autism
- Crohn’s disease
- Dementia
- Epilepsy
- Fibromyalgia
- Hearing loss
- Learning disabilities
- Low vision
- Lupus
- Mobility issues
- PTSD
- Rheumatoid arthritis
Travelers and their caregivers may request free lanyards at airline check-in counters and the Airport’s information booths, when staffed. They don’t need to provide proof of their disability to receive one. They can also pick up a lanyard at the Airport Administrative Office: 1701 Airport Boulevard, Suite B-1130, San José, CA 95110
Note: Sunflower lanyards are not fast passes. Those wearing lanyards will not receive expedited service at check-in counters or through the security checkpoint. For expedited screening, TSA Precheck is available at SJC.
Similar to The Sunflower Lanyard Program and also available at SJC, TSA Cares provides travelers with disabilities, medical conditions, or specific needs with additional assistance throughout the security screening process. Learn more about TSA Cares.
