The San José Mineta International Airport Improvement Program (more formally known as the Airport Master Plan) consists of terminal construction, access and roadway improvements, parking garages and airfield upgrades. The Airport Improvement Program’s goals are to provide a world-class facility with state-of-the-art passenger amenities and a technologically advanced security system in a cost-efficient manner.

Ongoing Airport Master Plan Projects
- Taxiway Victor Phase 1B/C - a multi-phase airfield safety project involving the relocation of Taxiway Victor. This phase continues previous work on Phase 1A, including partial replacement of former Runway 11/29 and an additional taxiway connector. Construction began on March 15, 2024, with substantial completion scheduled for December 2024.
- San Jose Police Department Air Support Unit Hangar - This project will replace the existing 50-year-old San Jose PD support hangar. The contract was awarded by City Council on November 7, 2023, construction began January 16, 2024, with substantial completion scheduled for April 2025.
- Airport Facilities Building - This project replaces existing 50-year-old maintenance buildings with facilities sufficient to address SJC’s future maintenance staff and fleet vehicle requirements. Construction began on June 15, 2023 and is scheduled to conclude in September, 2024.
