San José Mineta International Airport Celebrates National Aviation Week with a Scavenger Hunt and Chances to Win Prizes
Second annual event extends August 19 - September 4 with prizes valued up to $500
SAN JOSE, CALIF. – SJC Airport is inviting the public to share its love for Aviation during National Aviation Week. Along with the history and magic of the aviation industry, the Airport is also celebrating its passengers with the second annual SJC National Aviation Week Scavenger Hunt. Starting today, SJC passengers will have the opportunity to search for clues throughout SJC's terminals for a chance to win one of three prizes: a grand prize valued at $500, a second prize valued at $250 and a third prize valued at $100.
SJC Aviation Week Scavenger Hunt is a tech-forward event providing 10 clues for participants at flysanjose.com/aviation. Each clue will lead participants to a QR code that can be scanned for a chance to win. The answers to the clues feature amenities, shops and art located throughout the Airport.
SJC Director of Aviation, John Aitken said, “National Aviation week is the perfect time to celebrate the industry we love, as well as the people who help make every day here different and worthwhile – our passengers. This is the second year we are offering this fun opportunity to engage with the Airport, and we’re excited to share our love of flight and travel in such a fun and creative way.”
Activities will take place in SJC’s terminals from August 19 through September 4, 2023, as a fun, safe and contactless way to celebrate National Aviation Week. The Airport invites participation onsite as well as virtually through a new Planespotter Picture Sweepstakes, in which aviation enthusiasts are asked to share their favorite photos of planes captured at SJC for a chance to win through 9 a.m. Aug. 28. How to Play – Scavenger Hunt
Check flysanjose.com/aviation for the instructions and 10 clues that lead to QR codes throughout the terminals. After you find and scan each code, enter for a chance to win a San José Mineta International Airport prize pack (one grand prize valued at $500, and two other prizes valued at $250 and $100). Find all 10 clues, enter up to 10 times!

Up to one entry per clue per person. Open to U.S. residents only. No purchase necessary to win. Entrants must be 18 years or older. The SJC National Aviation Week Scavenger Hunt is subject to federal, state and local laws and regulations and void where prohibited by law. City of San José employees, its subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, partners, advertising and promotion agencies, and directors (collectively the “Employees”), as well as members of an Employees' immediate family and/or those living in the same household of Employees are ineligible to participate in The SJC Aviation Week Scavenger Hunt.
The entry period will close on Monday, September 4 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. Winners will be randomly selected and contacted by email within 10 days. The randomly selected winners will have 48 hours to respond to SJC to claim their prize. If a winner fails to respond within the 48-hour window, that winner will forfeit the prize and a new winner will be randomly selected.
National Aviation Day was established in 1939 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt through a presidential proclamation. The Aug. 19 date was selected in honor of Orville Wright’s birthday. Since then, aviation has been celebrated on both the day and week in various ways including educational and engaging events.
