Julie Riera Matsushima
A native of Silicon Valley, Julie Riera Matsushima is the fourth generation of a long time San Jose orchardist family. In addition to being a successful businesswoman, published author, community volunteer, and Past-President of the Rotary Club of San Jose, Julie has enjoyed extensive world travel.
Julie has served on many boards as well as two terms as a Park Commissioner for the City of San Jose; and fifteen years as a Florence Sister-County Commissioner for the County of Santa Clara. In 2001 Julie established That’s Amore Charitable Foundation, Inc., to serve children with special needs. She is the recipient of the prestigious Santa Clara Council of Boy Scouts of America Character Award, and the Santa Clara County Medici Medallion Award for her work to make public parks and playgrounds accessible to children with special needs. Metro Silicon Valley Newspaper recognized her in their annual “Profiles in Change” highlighting citizens making a difference. She has been featured in many publications including the San Jose Business Journal, The Community Newspapers, Gentry Magazine, and Image Magazine.
Julie is an urban dweller where she lives in the heart of downtown San Jose with her husband, Mel and their beloved dog, Nina. She is the mother of two, grandmother of four, and currently owns and operates an interior design consulting firm.
